We all know that Reebok is associated with sports and so it came as a surprise to us that their new brand icon is Scarlett Johansson! Yup, you read that right, Scarlett is Reebok’s new ambassador. The question is, why her? Yes, she’s stunning and would definitely turn heads in Reebok ads, but is she sporty? Is she what Reebok wants to carry their sports related brand?
According to Ulrich (Uli) Becker, global marketing head of Reebok International, “Scarlett is a young and iconic actress. She has also acted as a designer in a project. It’s this multi-faceted streak of hers that enthused us. It’s the same way young girls think, and that’s our market. Consumers preferred us to foray into lifestyle. Currently, we do 60% sports and 40% lifestyle products.” Ahh, that explains it! Our sexy Scarlett will be the icon for Reebok Lifestyle, not for its sports products. And we thought for awhile the Lost in Translation actress is going sporty, LOL! Anyway, we can’t wait to see her new ads, woohoo!
